Information

Life-Drawing Mega Day – Long poses.  This is the ultimate opportunity to immerse yourself into life-drawing, to spend time in a relaxed and friendly day-long class where time constraints are no issue, and where losing yourself in the drawing process is on the agenda, allowing yourself repeats of processes, changes of approaches and as many breaks as suit you. There will be three different models, each posing for a block of two hours.

In this particular instance of the life-drawing day, we will have long poses - each model posing for two hours (with taking breaks in between).

This will be useful particularly for class participants who want to work with colour techniques and/or go through the process of sketching and then painting all from one pose.

Nonetheless, for each such time block, Sabine will show techniques also suited to newcomers to life-drawing and provide plenty of demonstrations.

This drawing day-class also offers opportunities to spend time searching for and practicing your own approaches if you wish so. Those leaners who want to embark on their own drawing journey for all or parts of the day, it is encouraged to have a think ahead of the event about what materials and processes you might like to try out and come prepared accordingly.

Sabine will support each learner individually in as much or as little as they wish. Beginners to life drawing are very welcome and will be looked after in a structured way as would usually happen in a life drawing class.

Learners are encouraged to engage with each other about their unfolding drawing journeys and there are opportunities in each block to walk around and see and talk about others' work. A2 cartridge paper will be provided for purchase on the day (14p/sheet) Learners will draw on tables and drawing boards/trestles.

The course is taught by Sabine Kussmaul. She is a visual artist with professional experience in Fashion, Illustration and Fine Art. She has taught drawing in many educational settings for many years. She is currently studying for an Mphil/PhD at the University of Chester, researching embodied drawing practices
