Course synopsis

Is Mankind civilised?  Beneath a veneer of civilised behaviour, some writers have found a darker reality.

In autumn term we shall read:

·        La Bête Humaine (1890) by Emile Zola (translated by Roger Pearson in Oxford World Classics edition)

·        Heart of Darkness (1899) by Joseph Conrad

·        Lord of the Flies (1854) by William Golding

Term begins Friday 3rd October and ends Friday 12th December. There is a two hour lecture scheduled on Friday 19 September at the Guild, Wilmslow to introduce you to the works of Emile Zola. Click HERE to be taken to the webpage for more information.
