Information
Always wanted to know more about the rules that govern society. This day course is for non-lawyers and introduces the basic historical concepts relating to English legal history. We will look briefly at global legal history also.
So what is legal history?
Legal history is the discipline that explains where our laws come from, how they have changed, and what that reveals about the societies that made them.
Why is it important?
Legal history informs modern law by showing why today’s legal rules look the way they do, where their authority comes from, and how they can evolve responsibly. It acts as both a diagnostic tool and a creative resource for legislators, judges, and practitioners.
