Information
In this session we will draw a human figure following the 8-heads figurine scheme. Using an oval shape for the head, circles for joints and trapezium shapes for upper and lower core, we will learn to assemble these elements to form a human figure and then arrange them to show a standing person, with even or uneven weight distribution. Further detail can be added by subdivisions to the head shape (to provide structure for eyes, ears, nose…). We can also change the proportions of the person’s body shape by making the shapes wider, shorter or changing their relationships to each other.
Friday, 19th June, 2 pm – 4:30 pm
Please, be aware that we will not draw a human figure from observation but will learn step-by-step how to use geometric forms instead of anatomic body parts and arrange these to show a standing figure.
Please bring:
A4 paper for sketching or sketchbook/pad
Hard backing board (does not have to be a ‘proper’ drawing board’) for putting drawing paper on if not using a sketch book or pad
Fine liner – e.g. 0.5 or a ball point pen
Sabine will offer learners to buy A2 size cartridge paper, 25 p per sheet, that can be cut or torn to size and is a good quality
Pencils (HB and 4B), pencil sharpener, rubber
The Guild has trestles and large drawing boards for learners to use if they want.
