About the Festival:

The Wilmslow Festival of Writing is a full-day celebration of the written and spoken word. It's a fantastic opportunity to sharpen your skills, get inspired, meet and connect with  authors, and enjoy talks, book signings and performances.

**SHORT STORY WORKSHOP WITH RESHMA RUIA, 11.00AM**

Come and learn from the best! Practice the art of writing short fiction with Reshma Ruia, an esteemed and  published short fiction writer and novelist who will guide you from simple flash writing exercises to more complex structures. Don't miss it! Once you have your festival ticket, email writers@guildlifelonglearning.org to reserve a workshop place as numbers are restricted. The workshop is included in the ticket price.

10.00AM: DOORS OPEN; EXHIBITORS ATRIUM OPEN TILL 6.00PM

10.30AM: FESTIVAL CAFE OPENS

11.00AM-NOON: SHORT STORY WRITING WORKSHOP WITH RESHMA RUIA

12.15PM-1.00PM: READING AND Q&A WITH RESHMA RUIA

1.00PM-1.45PM: SENSORY AND PERFORMANCE WORKSHOP WITH KATJA EBRIGENS, SUITABLE FOR ALL AGES

2.00PM ONWARDS: FESTIVAL PERFORMANCES. THIS INCLUDES READINGS BY JOHN IRONMONGER, SHEENA KALAYIL, AND EMMA JANE BARLOW

7.00PM: FESTIVAL ENDS

The Venue:

The Festival will be held at The Guild for Lifelong Learning, a vibrant community hub in the heart of Wilmslow. We're proud to support their mission of providing accessible and engaging learning opportunities for all.

Ticket Information:


  • Full Day Ticket: £10 - This ticket grants you access to all workshops, talks, readings, and performances throughout the entire day! PLEASE NOTE: You must book your place at the short story workshop as places are limited.  Once you have your ticket, email writers@guildlifelonglearning.org to claim your seat! 


  • Community Café : Relax and refuel with delicious food and drinks available all day in the Community Café.
