Course synopsis

This course will take a close look at the developments in British Art from the end of the Second World War until the turn of the millennium. From the 'Kitchen Sink' painters of the 1950s and the early days of British Pop Art, to the Newlyn School in Cornwall and later the emergence of new artists in the 1970s and 1980s, you will see the story of recent British Art unfold. Artists we will look at include: Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud, David Hockney, Barbara Hepworth, Peter Blake, Damien Hirst, and Rachel Whiteread.
